Essential anatomy for advanced Botulinum toxin injections

DESCRIPTION
A keen understanding of the muscles of facial expression is essential in delivering consistent and natural results when using botulinum toxin.

Along with understanding the origin and insertions, the interplay between agonists and antagonists is also vital.

This lecture covers the commonly injected areas like the upper face but in addition describes the muscles and targets for injections in the midface, lower face and neck.


Advanced Botulinum toxin techniques

Although many injectors are comfortable with treating the upper face with neurotoxin, there remains some uncertainty for treatments in the midface and lower face. This lecture will cover complex forehead treatments, bunny lines, aspects of gummy smile, dao and dli, mentalis, masseter and platysma bands.

All the indications will be shown with video examples.

There has been a big increase in the usage of products such as polynucleotides, growth factors and a resurgence in the use of products such as calcium hydroxyapatite and polylactic acid.

This lecture is a brief overview of the different categories of biostimulator products.


Overview of medical devices in facial aesthetics

Many colleagues do not currently use energy based devices and focus on injection treatment. However as this category is rapidly increasing, it can be advantageous to have a good understanding of the different treatments. Often patients will have treatments in multiple clinics and good knowledge of the device based treatment helps with overall management. The discussion will be generic and not brand or company specific.

Treatments covered will include laser / IPL, radiofrequency, HIFU, HIFES, needling.
